The DARNA Orphanage

In Essaouira, Morocco, an orphanage has been created to respond to a very real need. It provides a home for:

  • young children who have been abandoned within the hospital system
  • street children
Thanks to a royal donation from His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the "DARNA" orphanage has acquired a quality accommodation facility with a capacity of 60 beds.

The centre houses 36 boys and girls between the ages of 1 and 6, as well as 22 babies.
It employs 32 people and includes a dining hall, an infirmary, a dormitory and a nursery.
The children are raised in a family setting.

The smooth running of the centre requires a sizeable monthly budget. Thanks to the support of the local authorities and certain Essaouira hotels and restaurants, the orphanage is able to function partially.

However, it is still in need of help from independent economic players.

You can sponsor the centre or make a donation:

SPONSORSHIP:
Sponsorship involves making a regular donation to the orphanage of 20 Euros per month, or 6.80 Euros per month after the 66% tax deduction. Through your commitment, you contribute to ensuring the financial security essential to a sustainable development project. In this way you will play a part in the complete care of the 60 children, and the operation of the centre’s various structures: canteen, nursery, dormitory, activities for the children...

DONATIONS:
A donation for the amount of your choice will help the orphanage to meet the needs of the children.
For example, for 50 Euros – or 17 Euros after the tax deduction – you can make a difference to the lives at DARNA.
