Madame Dominique SERRA,
Présidente du Comité d'Ethique
The scope of the Committee has been defined as follows:
Respect for the environment:
The Rallye Aicha des Gazelles du Maroc is the first Rally Raid to adopt an environmental and socially responsible approach.
Aware of our responsibility towards our contemporaries as well as the future generations, the Committee intends to ensure compliance with international standards for environmental protection and find innovative solutions to reduce the Rallye's environmental footprint. With this in mind, Maïenga has voluntarily begun the process for obtaining international environmental standards certification: ISO 14001*.
Social:
In keeping with the Rallye's two principal values, sharing and solidarity, the Ethics Committee must continue the actions that have already been initiated and be a driving force, in order to “optimize” these social and sustainable development initiatives.
Sports Ethic:
The basis and objective of sports ethics is to defend the dignity of the individual through the harmony of body, heart and spirit. The development of sporting activities thus requires education and training aimed at promoting values such as respect for the opponent, who should be considered as a partner, a clear understanding of oneself, one’s strengths and limits, solidarity, generosity, self-sacrifice, mutual understanding and humility, the fight against all forms of violence or cheating and a commitment to defend fairness in sport, loyalty and
fair-play .
Aware of the importance of these values, the Ethics Committee will look into the ethical issues of sport and make recommendations for the application of ethics to the practice of motorized, orientation and "nature" sports.
Commitment :
Above and beyond its identity as a challenging sports event, this rally is also a wonderful opportunity for cooperation and exchange between women from around the world.
These women share the desire to protect the environment and to help others through Heart of Gazelles Association. The women who take part in the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc come together from all over Europe and cross the Mediterranean Sea to Tangiers, where, once on Moroccan ground, they join the other participants from the USA, Canada, Morocco and elsewhere, carrying within them the message of the Union for the Mediterranean.
In this regard, Maïenga wishes to encourage and reward the noble actions carried out by these women, and will award 2 prizes to persons from UMed countries:
- the Entrepreneurship Prize,
- the Sustainable Development Prize
The Ethics Committee will be charged with identifying potential candidates and selecting the two winners.
Spirit of Solidarity:
The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc brings together women who are committed to a competition with a sense of solidarity. This challenge requieres courage, strenght, pugnacity to surpass oneself and mutual aid. Beyond the necessary personal qualities, the Gazelles are spreading an international message of tolerance, modernity, social fairness and solidarity.
The Committee will guarantee the continuation of this mentality and code of ethics, which have allowed and will continue to allow the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc to pursue its activities with and for women.
