This 3rd leg is a loop, starting and ending at the Nejjakh bivouac just outside of Erfoud. It is a long leg, 201 km, requiring an estimated minimum time of 11.5 hours. Today will be a real navigation challenge, taking the Gazelles into the foothills of Hamada du Guir across an immense plateau with few features. Maps and compasses will be working hard. It will also be a chance to test the capacities of their 4X4 vehicles over rocky terrain. Something to watch out for on this leg: the features known as "cauliflowers": plants petrified by the sand, the wind and time. Be careful – they are as hard as rock!
Estelle and Marie Amélie (Team 121 - ISUZU / AUFEMININ.COM / HEART OF GAZELLES) are very proud of themselves: they navigated straight to CP4 across this immense featureless plateau… Bravo! They are the first IMR Challenge team to reach CP6 and decide to return to the bivouac. They are in 6th place in the Challenge after this 3rd leg.

Laure and Valérie, Team 139 - ISUZU / RADIO VITAMINE / ASSOCIATION LE SOURIRE DE LUCIE, called for mechanical assistance yesterday which cost them 200 penalty points. Added to the 250 points of the first day... The Gazelles weren’t very cheerful at the start line this morning, but 6 checkpoints later, they were smiling again!
