Speaking with the Gazelles

"This Prologue has brought us closer together"

Never judge from appearances. Ever. Nelly and Emma (Team 147 - Thalès), two slim young women, 36 and 26 years old, are both in the military. One is a helicopter pilot, the other is supplies manager...

It would have been a shame not to get stuck in the sand today...

Emmanuelle and Véronique, of Team 312 - La Poste (Crossover category) tell the story of their first misadventure of the Rallye with self-deprecating humour... and shovels and sand ladders in hand...

First encounter with the sand

Stéphanie is a cosmetologist, Sophie works in retail sales. These two cousins make up Team 160 - Le Clos des Roses on board an Isuzu D Max. Like many other teams this year, they are on the starting line of the Rallye des Gazelles du Maroc for the first time. Stéphanie, pilot, had been dreading the sand, another first: "Our only training session was in Chambéry, in the Alps... far from the dunes!". Ten minutes after the start, they reach their first mini-dune: try to go up once, reverse, try again... and end up getting over: "My heart is pounding like crazy! We have never done that before!" confesses Stéphanie with a wide smile, her voice trembling with emotion.
Three hours later, at the bivouac, while waiting to fill up at the Total fuel truck, Stéphanie's voice is more confident: "We had some trouble with the first CP, we went too far. We were thrilled when we found it, it was great! Afterwards, we got into a good rhythm and we even had a few good laughs!". Her voice catches as she continues: "We had to give up our mobile phones before the Prologue, and we will only get them back at the end of the last leg, in 8 days. That was hard. I called my daughters, Lou et Romy, who are 2 and 5, one last time. They are sure that we are going to win the Rallye!" And what about you? "I think that we are going to finish it!" Good luck!
