BRINK'S Challenge

Warmup...

More than just the beginning of the race, the Prologue is a day for adjusting. First-timers get to apply the theoretical knowledge learned during their navigation training, the pilots learn the feel of their vehicles. For returning Gazelles, it a day for rediscovering the experiences of past years.

The start of the Prologue at the El Hazbane bivouac was given by French actor Philippe Cura of the TV series "Caméra Café". The Gazelles set out on 5 different, but equivalent, looped routes each with an ideal distance of 49 km. The top teams should be back at the bivouac after about 3 hours, after finding the 3 CPs.

ACTEMIUM / Banque CIC 101 Catherine HOULES and Mélanie SUCHET in an ISUZU D-MAX
11 participations between them, Catherine won last year's edition with Armelle. This year she will be on the start line with former skier Mélanie Suchet, who has competed with Carole Montillet and who won in the quad category in a previous edition. This will be a team to watch.

ALVERGNAS AUTOMOBILES / RABOBANK 103 Angélique ALVERGNAS and Sidonie DUBRULE in a TOYOTA KDJ 120 Winners of last year's Brink's Challenge, our Gazelles presented a cheque for 200 000 Dirhams (20 000 Euros) to the Zakoura Foundation, allowing micro credit recipients to finance their rural tourism projects here in Morocco: Bed and Breakfasts, restaurants... The team hopes to repeat its success this year.

PROVOST / CAISSE EPARGNE Idf 107 Frédérique BRIOIS-BOIZAND and Fabienne LALANDE in a JEEP WRANGLER First participation for this team of dynamic forty-year-olds from Paris. They are in 23rd place after the prologue, earning themselves a good position at the start line of the first leg.

VALEURS ET PATRIMOINES / CREDIT MUTUEL 116 Elisabeth VETTER and Claire SALANNE in a TOYOTA KZJ 95
This is "Babette's" 3rd Rallye, Claire's 2nd, but they have never raced together. "We are both a bit stressed," explains Claire, "We know each other from the Rallye, but as teammates we need to really complement each other. At least we know what to expect! We have to be up to the challenge... Our goal is to finish in the top 20 of the general ranking, so... ".

MAISONS FAMILIALES / SOCIETE GENERALE 118 Anne-France MOISAND and Karine DENOIS RACT GRAS in a TOYOTA HDJ 100 First participation for Karine, kinesiologist, 2nd for Anne-France, teacher.

GREENTECH / CREDIT MUTUEL 120 Delphine BICHOFFE and Christine HUNKA in a LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER
3 Rallies between them, an impeccable prologue with just 5 extra km...

R. MONNOT / CREDIT MUTUEL 121 Valérie and Virginie BERNARD in a TOYOTA LAND CRUISER
Back at the bivouac early, a smile on their faces, these sisters plan to enjoy themselves. Valérie has done the Rallye once, and is now bringing her sister along.

GROUPE ADAO / LCL 122 Catherine KERAMIDAS and Isabelle CHARLES in a TOYOTA HILUX
Experienced Gazelles, the prologue posed no problem for Catherine and Isabelle.

Gazelles des Sancerre / Banque CIC BRO 125 Claudine AMAT and Catherine CORBEAU-MELLOT in a LAND ROVER DISCOVERY
Two women (51 and 47 years old respectively) who are taking the plunge...

DESJARDINS 130 Josée SEGUIN and Émilie ROBILLARD in a NISSAN NAVARRA
The only Canadian team in the Brink's Challenge got back to the bivouac after driving more than 100 km... Luckily the prologue is just a warm-up, allowing the novices to get accustomed to the conditions of the race.

MMC MITSUBISHI / CREDIT MUTUEL 133 Danielle BIGATA and Dominique HERRAIRE in a MITSUBISHI
First participation and lots of intensity for these two women from Gironde who did quite well in the prologue.

CRCAM TOULOUSE / AUDIT COURTAGE 154 Patricia TICHADOU and Marie-Christine FERRER in a TOYOTA HDJ 80 A good prologue puts them in 49th place for the start of Leg 1.

LE PARI DES GAZELLES / BANQUE POPULAIRE DE BOURGOGNE 157 Nadia FOURNO and Patricia NAUD-CRON in a NISSAN PATROL The Gazelles are very happy with their prologue. "We were only 1.28 km over the ideal distance; we're in 4th place in the ranking this evening!" exclaims an enthusiastic Nadia.

CCI de Sète / SOCIETE GENERALE 161 Caroline PEREZ and Stéphanie GRANET-MONTEIRO in a TOYOTA KZJ 90
This team got back to the bivouac late tonight after getting lost for a while and driving 179 km. Luckily the extra km will be wiped off the slate before tomorrow's first leg.

BMCE Capital Bank 165 Franco-Senegalese Team Syndiely WADE and Jade HANDI in a NISSAN NAVARRA
A bad start for this team, in spite of their Rallye experience. This is Syndiely's 4th Rallye, and Jade took part last year in the quad category. After a vehicle breakdown, they didn't get back to the bivouac until the middle of the night.

BODET EMO / C2C 166 Sarah BREBION and Krystèle BODET in a NISSAN TERRANO II
These Gazelles performed very well for a first participation! They finished the prologue in 10th place, with no penalties and less than 2 extra km... Bravo!

EXCO / AGF 167 Sophie France DE L'EPINE GASTINE and Isabelle DE L'EPINE in a LAND ROVER DEFENDER
Sophie, who has already done the Rallye twice, is introducing her her sister to the adventure. After a bit of stress at the start line, the two Gazelles ended up having a lot of fun.

PAGOT SAVOIE / CREDIT MUTUEL 177 Nadège BEUGNOT and Claude GAY in an ISUZU D-MAX
A good prologue for these two new Gazelles: no penalties and precise navigation!

BMCE Bank 193 Majda OUARAFANA and Sanaa CHAIDI in an ISUZU D-MAX
A baptism by fire for this Franco-Moroccan team today: 108 km and a 100-point penalty for not finding a CP. Luckily today's performance doesn't count.

ACCUEIL IMMO / CIC 199 Ida CALMON and Florence CAZANOBE in a TOYOTA KDJ 120
First participation for this team who finished the prologue in 51st place.

AUTOMATISME ET EXPLOITATION DES ENERGIES/ CREDIT MUTUEL 203 Florence SIGNORETTO and Vanessa CHAILLOT in a TOYOTA HILUX
A few setbacks for this team who did not find all of the CPs despite driving 105 km...

The prologue is an extra leg before the official start of the competition, used to determine the starting order for the first leg. While an earlier start means more time to find the CPs, any penalties earned during the prologue do not count in the rest of the competition. The penalties are reset to zero.
