Temporary ranking, minimum distance, no speed: Ludovic Taché, Race PC Manager, explains what makes the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles unique.
"As opposed to many races where speed is an important factor, the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc rewards navigation, strategy, communication between the pilot and her teammate. The challenge that these women must face is on a very human level. I may be exaggerating a bit, but this is one of the rare car races today where it's not just the vehicle that makes all the difference out in the field. As it's not necessarily the team with the most sponsors that will be the favourite to win! Another thing that makes this rally different is that it is complicated
to follow the action live. On the Race PC we follow the Gazelles'
progress along the course (using Iritrack devices), but it's
very difficult for us to know if the competitor in the best position on
the map will also have the lowest odometer reading. Just like the first
teams to reach the bivouac will not necessarily be among the winners,
depending on the route they took and whether they drove in circles
looking for a CP."
